Will Blue Bee’s Custom Bumper Stickers Damage My Car?

Custom bumper stickers are an inexpensive yet impactful way to tell the world about the places you’ve been, the family you love, the sports teams you cheer for, and the philosophies that mean the most to you.

Country legend George Strait even wrote a song about the one on the back of his truck: “There ain’t another like it ‘cause I had it made up.” But whether or not you share Strait’s vision to “Honk If You Honky Tonk,” you surely share an interest making sure that meaningful custom bumper sticker doesn’t eventually mean damage to your vehicle.

At Blue Bee, we feel the same way. That’s why our custom bumper stickers – available in white vinyl, clear vinyl, gloss UV laminate, and matte UV laminate – are specially designed with premium-quality professional materials to reliably adhere to chrome, paint, or glass; look great for thousands of travel miles no matter the weather or terrain; and, eventually, as your tastes change, leave no trace when removed properly.

Here are five tips to keep in mind when creating your next custom bumper sticker.

Choose bumper stickers created for automotive use. Seems obvious, but it’s worth noting. Normal paper stickers will likely either slip off at the first turn, or ruin the vehicle’s exterior when they have to be chipped off. Our permanent adhesive is intended for safe, long-lasting use on cars.

Radiate beauty. If your stickers are going to be in the sun more than six hours a day, or if they’ll be in a harsh environment, consider adding one of our UV laminates to protect your colors from fading and your stickers from scratching.

Location, location, location. You can put Blue Bee custom car stickers anywhere on your vehicle without fear of their damaging the underlying surface. However, because a sticker becomes a kind of sunscreen, depending on the kind of paint used on your car, removing your message could potentially leave a less-faded spot. A better choice might be a chrome bumper or a rear or side glass window. Just make sure it doesn’t block your view while driving.

Keep it clean. When you’re ready to apply your Blue Bee custom car sticker, wipe the area where you want to place it. Use glass cleaner, rubbing alcohol, or warm water and soap, then thoroughly buff it dry to prevent trapping dirt underneath. Once you’re sure the surface is smooth and no moisture remains, carefully peel the backing and slowly place the sticker onto the vehicle. Use a credit card wrapped in a thin washcloth to rub out any bubbles or ripples so they don’t obscure your message or shorten its lifespan.

Parting doesn’t have to be sweet sorrow. When it’s time to bid adieu to your bumper sticker (perhaps to put a new Blue Bee custom bumper sticker in its place!), take care to keep the surface looking as good as new. Try using a hair dryer cranked up high and blown at the sticker from a few inches away, starting in the middle and working outward. Then grab your credit card or a rubber spatula, or just use your fingernail to get under a loose edge and slowly peel the sticker and adhesive away. It may rip; just find another loose edge and start over. Spraying WD-40 under the sticker while peeling it away may help the process. Finally, remove any remaining residue with help from something like Goo Gone, rubbing alcohol, or white vinegar.

The next time you’re ready to make a moving statement, make it last with a Blue Bee custom bumper sticker that both you and your car will love.
